This is what happens when you have a super lame land lord who hires shady people to maintain your a/c!

Don’tcha just love it when you’re suppose to leave on vacation and your a/c breaks? Mind you I live in Arizona : ( Super fun! It only took 13 hours to diagnose and fix the problem……can you see the inch of cat hair on the coils….mmmm….fluffy!
What’s crazy is we had no idea this problem even existed until today when our dear friend John drove all the way down from Scottsdale to come help. Apparently when they installed this unit in 1991 "they" never removed the casing that covers the coils (it’s put there by the manufacturer to protect the units in transit)….so………..18 years later + 3 hours of using shears and drills to get the broken rivets out this is what we discovered! A life time supply of hair and muck! No wonder the a/c broke…it couldn’t breathe! OMG!
Also I should mention that this unit has been signed off on 3 times since we’ve lived here since it breaks down about once per year. Every person that has come to fix it has checked the box that says the coils are clean….I BEG TO DIFFER! Without a doubt today is the only time the coils have ever been cleaned in 18 years. I am so grossed out by this….are you?

Keeping it cool

Keeping it cool
Senior Airman Robert George, 380th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron, sprays the coils of an air-conditioning unit with water outside one of the dining facilities at this deployed location in Southwest Asia Oct. 11. The water rinses off hydrochloric acid used previously to clean sand, grit and debris from the unit’s coils, which are much like that of an automobile radiator. There are better than 3,000 air-conditioning units at this base, which is home to about 1,500 Airmen and the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing. Airman George is deployed from Yokota Air Base, Japan.
